The City of Chilliwack has a population of approximately 91,000 people and is located 100 kilometers east of the City of Vancouver (approximately 1.5 hours drive from the Vancouver Airport).

Places to stay. When paddling in Chilliwack we recommend staying on the south side of Chilliwack (Sardis). Promontory, Garrison Crossing, Cultus Lake, and the Vedder area offer many airbnb’s. The Hampton Inn is one of the closest hotels to Tamihi, approx 21 minutes. There is also camping at Tamihi Rapids. Tamihi Rapids campsite consists of 7 tent campsites and 3 RV parking sites. You can also check out these rustic cabins at Tamihi Meadows often used by fishers - Cabins which are located a short drive from Tamihi Rapids.

What to do. Besides paddling at Cultus Lake or on the Chilliwack River we recommend grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many great restaurants in District 1881 (also known as Disneyland) or stay on the south side of Chilliwack and head over to Sidekick Brewing (near the Vedder Bridge, 12 minutes from Tamihi) or Old Yale Brewing. We recommend the Little Beetle or Cookies for a fantastic breakfast. Chilliwack offers many local hikes and trails. The closest grocery store to Tamihi Rapids is Save-On-Foods located in Garrison Crossing.

Cultus Lake is one of the many bodies of water paddlers enjoy in Chilliwack. There are no Slalom gates at Cultus Lake. The CCE Club boathouse is located at Cultus Lake, Main Beach - Parking Lot B. Cultus Lake is approximately 20 minutes from Tamihi.

Corbould Flatwater Training Gates. The Corbould flatwater training site is located on the Hope Slough at the end of Corbould Street. Use the address 9899 Corbould Street to find the location. Street parking is available at the end of the road. From your car, head straight down to the water and head west down the Hope Slough. There are approximately 18 gates set up at this location. Please contribute to the restoration of this body of water by ensuring that your boat is properly cleaned before entering the water to prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species.

Tamihi Rapids is located located up Chilliwack Lake Road, approximately 10 minutes from the roundabout at the Vedder Bridge. Follow the Trans-Canada Hwy (Hwy 1) East from Vancouver and take Exit 119 onto Vedder Road. Turn left at Chilliwack Lake Road and drive 12 km. The site is located directly to the left once you cross the Tamihi Bridge. Cell reception is limited. Remember to check the water level before heading up.

Parking is limited at Tamihi Rapids. Ensure you park on the left side of the parking lot (day parking) when using the site. Road parking is also available. There are no boat storage racks at the site.
