Rich Weiss Race

The Rich Weiss Race is a staple race for the Club. The race will be held on April 30, 2023 at the CCE Paddling Club whitewater race site at the Tamihi Rapids, Chilliwack River. The race is named for American Olympian Richard Weiss who spent many years training with the Chilliwack Centre of Excellence at the Tamihi Rapids throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Rich left our small community too early in an incident on the White Salmon River in Washington a year after his tremendous 5th place performance at the 1996 Olympics. Slalom boats are not required for the race and many participants race in plastic boats.

Tamihi 5-0 Race

Our fall race at the Tamihi Rapids is typically scheduled in September when the water levels are low: this race is a great introduction to whitewater slalom racing for all paddlers: recreational paddlers, open boaters, SUPs are all welcome! Like us on Facebook to stay up to date on upcoming races! There are no races scheduled at this time.

Flatwater Races

We hold flat water Races in the Spring /early Summer and late fall each year. These races are a fun and accessible way to try slalom for the first time and a great way to improve your kayaking technique. Look for the “Cookie Races” on our event schedule.

Club Open House

The CCE Paddling Club hosts a Club Open House each year and encourage all who are interested in becoming a member with the Club or just want to try kayaking! This is a free event held by the club and all are welcome, no membership required. Please check our event schedule for dates and registration.
