Rivers Day Clean up Sept 28th

This Sunday is World Rivers Day, a day to celebrate and appreciate the waterways that shape our land.

One way to celebrate is to help keep them as pristine as possible, and one group will be working on the Vedder river to do just that.

Chris Gadsen helps organize the Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup Society and says these cleanups are really needed.

“Over the 11 years we’ve taken close to 80 tons of material off there, and if hadn’t been picking this up a lot of that would have got washed down the river and into the Fraser river, then into the ocean.”

If you want to help out, registration is 8:30 to 9:30 at the Chilliwack Fish and GAME CLUB on Sunday.

Volunteers will be sent out to different areas, returning at noon for a barbeque, entertainment, and prizes.
